Actor Jim Parsons weds longtime boyfriend

New York, NY — It's a real-life twist on a Hollywood cliché, the geek gets the boy of his dreams.Jim Parsons, who America best knows as Sheldon Cooper from CBS' hit comedy The Big Bang Theory, tied the knot with Todd Spiewak, his boyfriend of 14 years over the weekend.According to Bustle, Spiewak doesn't have the same celebrity background as his famous husband, but has been successful in his own career. He has a BFA in Graphic Design from Boston University and worked for campaigns at such esteemed companies as American Express, Barnes & Noble, and The New York Times.Parsons posted pictures from his wedding night at the Rainbow Room in New York City on his Instagram.

According to PinkNews, Parsons is the highest-paid openly gay actor. He earns an estimated $1 million per episode.In 2014, despite prodding from Ellen DeGeneres on her show, Parsons demurred on the topic of marriage."I don't know. That's a hard one," he said. "You get used to your life as it is."Two years prior, Parsons came out publicly in a New York Times profile.Parsons' character is set to star in his own show. According to CBS, the spinoff, Young Sheldon, will follow 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper, played by newcomer Iain Armitage, as the child prodigy navigates his young life in east Texas.    

Parsons will still play a role in the new show, narrating the comedy as adult Sheldon.
