And The Winner Is. . .

Show:
I had a blast last night that the Chicago Free Press (CFP) “Pressie” Awards show! The gang at Sidetrack rolled out the red carpet for all of the LGBT community and they delivered in their usual perfect fashion!

CFP’s Dawn Pope arranged and ran one organized event! I have to say, with as many events as I participate in and go to, this one was so well planned out! Right when I got there I was handed everything I needed and every question was answered before I even asked. Of course Dawn had the help of Boystown melody man GIO and Scarlet events manager & cutie Tom Dziarma. Seriously, those two earned their weight in gold with all their hard work. (Side Note: Ever notice how hard people work behind the scenes!?)

And You Are:
Seriously, there was some of Chicago’s most well known in attendance! Every time I turned around, I saw someone that I recognized from television or print. I was blessed to have one such person in Dustin Erikstrup! (See Picture Above) He came up and introduce himself to me. It turns out that Dustin and I are Facebook friends. A fact he brought to my attention by asking me why I asked him to be my friend when we had never met. My answer was simple. . . He was probably hot. (And, he IS! You can’t blame me!) After a little bit of chit-chat, I learned that Dustin starred on the last season of Big Brother. I had no idea. I apologized admitting that I’m not much of a television watcher. He was really sweet about understanding and truthfully didn’t seem to mind. Honestly, I found Dustin to be really down to earth and not really affected by the whole “Reality Television” thing. Very refreshing to be sure!

Famous and Infamous:
With familiar faces all around I enjoyed saying hello to everyone! Of course I was able to fellowship a bit with Boystown favorite Miss Foozie. Foo was taking home the award for “Best Female Impersonator”. Hosting Foozie was none other than ChicagoPride.com President, Matthew Inawat and his sweet partner Brian. I can’t tell you what a pleasure it was for me to see Matthew & Brian having fun! And, fun is what we had. I was only wishing that Editor Steve was there too! It was a super pleasure to run into ChicagoPride.com’s Editor-At-Large and celebrity advocate, Jason P. Freeman. I am convinced that Jason can make any situation fun and high energy!

Speaking of celebrity, my pal former "American Idol" finalist and ChicagoPride.com Columnist, Jim Verraros was not only an award recipient but also a featured part of the show; singing a few songs. I love me some Jim! (More about that later!)

I had the pleasure of meeting Project Runway’s Steven Rosengard. Oh my word, he couldn’t have been more kind! (And cute!) We had a blast making each other laugh as we stood in line waiting to go on stage. I also ran into LGBT gal pal and Fag-Friendly state Representative Sarah Feigenholtz in line. She is such a hoot and was in great spirits last night as she presented an award. Of course it is always a pleasure to run into the super cute candidate herself, Deb Mell, announcing the award for best politician Mayor Richard M. Daley.

Seeing community DJ Greg Haus and award winning DJ Laura B! was also a treat. These two sure have been playing the tunes a long time in Boystown! I was also happy to finally meet ArtReach Educational Theatre’s own Dan Walsh who’s been a online pal for quite some time! Of course running in to my favorite cocktail waiter and CFP’s Go Guide Guy, Vince Lane and ChicagoPride.com’s own Dave Ouano made the night of stars perfect!

And The Award Goes To:
Enjoying the night with my pals Chicago Male Salon owner, Scott (See Picture) & Pie Hole Pizza owner, Doug made for quite the boisterous time. I felt like I was back in high school! Community award winning Pie Hole Pizza supplied some yummy pizza for the event too! I was a good boy and only had one small piece. Pizza is my drug!

With joy in my heart I was introduced on the stage to present an award to my first Chicago Gay bar Roscoe’s. Hostess Frida Lay accepted on their behalf.

Coming Up:
This weekend is sure to be a fun one! Of course there are a billion Events going on, but I want to make sure you know about one of them off hand. Friday, ChicagoPride.com and Minibar|Winebar are hosting an Evening With Jim Verraros. I hope you can all join me in the fun! As always, you can get more Information about it at ChicagoPride.com

SHOUT OUTS:
I would like to dedicate today’s shout out’s to the whole team at ChicagoPride.com! They seriously make the Chicago community look damn good!

Cheers Damn It!

It is with GREAT pleasure that I congratulate my Friend Miss Foozie on winning the “Best Female Impersonator” award from the Chicago Free Press!

As many will agree, Foozie is one positive force in the community and always has just the right thing to say to bring a smile on the face of others!

All My Love Foo!

PS: We’ll have to go over to other Pressie winner, Pie Hole Pizza for a piece of their “Foozie Special”

You Can’t Beatz Four In The Morning!

Brian Douglass:
It was so nice having my friend Brian Douglass in town for the weekend. He’s one true friend and I loved spending time with him. We met up at Joy’s for dinner. I’ll tell you, with this new health regimen I’ve been observing I’ve not had Thai food for about six weeks. DAMN, do I love some Thai food, and Joy’s always does a great job! It was nice to catch up with Brian!

Inspiration:
I woke up at the dawn of crack (That’s earlier than the crack of dawn.) and was inspired to get a workout in before my Saturday morning breakfast with Isaiah. Heaven’s that seems to be the time to go! The club was empty and what few people that were there were lady’s. I got in a good workout and then strutted off to breakfast.

My weekly breakfast with Isaiah is a time that I truly treasure! He is such an impressive person and really represents family to me as I’ve known him a long time. In a day and age where so many people fail to impress, he is one quality guy!

A productive day of spring cleaning, book reading and hanging out with my bitch ensued. Gosh, do I adore my old dog!

What’s with all the green:
At the behest of my friend John, I attempted to wear something green on Saturday night. Trust me when I say that this was hard! It’s not that I don’t appreciate all my Irish pals; I just don’t like doing what everyone else is doing. I can be a bit stubborn at times. Alas, I had a great Turnbull and Assure tie that my sainted father bought for me with little green dots all over it.

Hostess with the mostess Bill Healy had a “small” gathering of guys over at his house in honor of Brian Douglass. I met some wonderful people there and also enjoyed the fellowship of one of my best pals, Jeremy Ehrhart. INTERESTING what you can learn about a person you’ve known for years! Isn’t it Jer! (*blush*) Of course what Bill Healy party would go so smoothly without the gentle direction and hard work of his roommate Russell! I can’t say enough how kind and sweet Russell is! He’s a good pal to my friend Bill and is always so caring to all he meets!

From Bill’s palatial home I went to meet up with John M. and his damn hot friend Briana at Minibar|Winebar. John generously bought me a glass or two of wine and we enjoyed some fellowship. Of course many who were out and about were already quite drunk, including the wasted chap who was all over John and looking to take him home. COMEDY! It’s funny how that type of stupidity can make a cute boy ugly. Oh well, we’ve all been there I guess. :-)

We enjoyed the music of DJ Phil DaBeatz and seeing our pals Ryan Andrew and Kevin Anthony (See Picture) I was able to recruit Ryan to snap a picture of John and me. (See Picture Above) Oh my word, it really turned out well. We look so damn charming don’t we! I also ran into Advisor Edward. Have I ever mentioned how nice it is to fellowship with him!? You all should meet this kind man!

From Minibar we all went next door to Sidetrack. We ran into so many people there, including my cute friend Evan Trad and my dear pal, Steven Rollins. Any chance that I get to see Steve is such a treat. He is too damn sweet! After a long day of fellowship with Briana I got cute John in a cab headed home and I returned to Minibar.

Lesbians, drinks and Beatz! Oh My!:
Spending some time with Straight Bartender Alex is always a great thing. Now, before you get your minds in the gutter, Alex is a pal of mine and I am not trying to “turn” him. I’ve been lucky to call Alex my friend for quite a while and it was nice to catch up! Out of nowhere I hear the music die and see the lights come up. Did I actually close Minibar!?!?! How scandalous am I!

DJ Phil DaBeatz invited me to join him at the Closet. Not having been there in a long time, I agreed. Have you ever stopped to listen to Phil?! The man is truly more than the music! I’m delighted to see our friendship growing and really like spending time with him! Sweet lord Bartender Karen sure knows how to mix an adult beverage! Oh my! With fun fellowship and meeting new friends, I realized that it was 4:00 a.m. and time for Billy to go home! COMEDY!

Sunday Gay Church:
I met up with John, Briana and DJ Phil at Angelina’s. Brett was our server and we had a great time people watching and hanging out!

This Week:
There are always fun things going on during the week. I’ve been asked to present an award to Roscoe’s this week and the 2007 Pressie Award’s show. I’ll be sure and let you know how that night goes! I love me some Roscoe’s!

SHOUT OUTS: The very kind, Dale Kozak, My ex, Matthew, Chicago Piano Man Ben Hartman, my bosom friend, David Cruse Beal, Difference Maker, Trey Gonzales, My pal Lady Vera Parker and finally my bitch, Buffy!

Have a wonderful week!

Trust Me. . .It’s BIG!

Last Night:
I was the lucky guy to be able to share the evening with John M. from Michigan. John moved here a while ago, but we just met last week through Isaiah. Okay so here is John’s deal: He’s really ambitious and, he’s super eager to meet everyone. We were able to start out night off with Donald Trump and his fabulous new lounge on the 16th floor of the Trump hotel & Tower. The very cute Rachel was our cocktail server and had lots to say about the new venue. I think that John and I will be going back there lots! Did I mention that he’s kinda cute?

Trey’s Big Give:
My friend Trey Gonzales who was surprised on Oprah’s Big Give show with $10,000 cash and a Challenge to make that grow for his charity of Interfaith House, a non-profit organization dedicated to permanently breaking the cycle of homelessness in Chicago. They provide housing, medical care, counseling, and employment training to their residents. They also supply the tools to help individuals rebuild their lives and rejoin society.

I can’t tell you how inspiring it was to hear from their Executive Director, Jennifer Nelson! Clearly this lady is passionate about what she does! Jennifer kept us all in stitches as she told us about the needs of Interfaith House. It was especially gratifying to see all the wonderful people who came out to support Trey’s Challenge! THANKS to all of you ChicagoPride.com patrons who attended. I was really encouraged by your warm wishes! It was wonderful to meet Michael Cook, President and CEO of Howard Brown! He couldn’t have been more kind to me!

I think the biggest joy of my night was hearing people talk about how they wanted to get involved in “Giving Big” to our community. My pal Charlie Gurion told me how eager he was to get involved. I think all night John and I were talking about his getting involved in some new areas in his life. Events like these tend to bring that desire to focus. I get so excited to see people from all walks of life eager to Make A Difference!

John and I had Sax:
Well, after a marvelous night like that, John and I were feeling pretty good and one thing led to the other and well. . . we. . . um. . .had to have some Sax! (Hotel that is!) My pal Mario Green invited me to the Grand opening party of the Hotel Sax. Sweet lord there were so many people there! It was a blast. I loved the expression on John’s face when he sat down at a massage station! He was there for about 10 minutes. I ran into my pal Darshan Patel and Megan Potter too! It’s always nice to enjoy some libations and fellowship with pals!

Beatz:
I was able to pry John away from being molested by a stranger and we headed back up to Boystown to see DJ Phil DaBeatz on his inaugural night at Minibar|Winebar’s Mystique. Like an eager beaver, John was greeting people and getting numbers as I said hello to friends. I would like to say for the record that my friend and cocktail waitress, Vince Lane (Who’s name I adore) is one sweet person who always goes out of his way to take care of me. I heart him more than friends! Of course the whole Minibar gang makes me feel so welcome. Shon, I have to say that you’re kinda hot!

Enjoying a glass of white while talking with John and my pal Johnny Reilly made for the perfect close to my evening. I wanted to get up to Mary’s Attic to see my pal Lady Vera Parker perform, but I wasn’t able to make that trek. I know there will be other shows!

This Weekend:
John and I talked about meeting up over the weekend and one of my best friends Brian Douglass will be here! There are a billion Events and Places to go to!

SHOUT OUTS: Scott & Brandon, My best friend, Isaiah, Boystown Party Guy, Hadley Rue, Sweet Dale Kozak, The Hostess with the Mostess, Bill Healy, Advisor Edward, Everyone’s favorite DJ, Phil DaBeatz, Serving you and me in the military, Josh from Seattle, My ex, Matthew, The very cute, Clay Hinkle, My Fu_k Buddy, Tommy Holl, My good pal Ben Hartman, Topsey whoever in the world you are! My friend, John Dalton, My Parents, the damn cute Jim Bonfield and my bosom friend, David Cruse Beal!

Happy Weekend Bit_hes!

Hey DaBeatz. . .My Pants Are Falling!

I don’t even know where to begin about my evening Tuesday night!

Happy Anniversary:
With great pleasure I attended Atmosphere’s 6 year anniversary party! Atmosphere owner, Charlie Brown (See Picture) called me personally to invite me and I was happy to attend! Joining me to make the evening perfect was none other than DJ Phil DaBeatz. I can’t tell you how warm and refreshing it was to get to know Phil. We’ve been trying to go out for the longest time and have never been able to before now. Clearly Phil is a kindred spirit and a welcome friendship to my life.

Friends, Romans, and Countrymen:
We had THE best time running into long time pals and new friends! We were delighted to see our pal and Boystown Icon, Linda Little entertaining friends and sipping libations. I just love seeing Linda out and about. I was happy to be introduced to David Daju Producer extraordinaire of Corkscrew Media Group. I’ve always heard nice things about David and he sure was nice to me! He even snapped a picture of Phil & me. (See Picture)

It was a pleasure to run into my old pal, Franco La Marca whom I’ve not seen in forever and ChicagoPride.com Blogger, DJ Oscar. It’s always a special treat to bump into the communities dear friend, and ChicagoPride.com Blogger, Kirk Williamson of Nightspots Magazine! The moment we see each other we seem to always have a ton to talk about and catch up on! I was especially entranced by his BAB! (Big A_s Belt)! It had a lovely little kitty on it too! (See Picture Above) The comedy of it all was the story that I told Phil earlier in the night about my trousers falling down as I was walking on Halsted. Imagine yours truly readjusting his belt for all to see whilst walking the streets of Boystown! COMEDY! I could have used a BAB right about then!

How Do You Do Foo:
With joy in our hearts Phil and I said goodbye to everyone and headed down to see Miss Foozie (See Picture) at Cocktail. Its always nice to see Foozie and catch up. (Although it’s still time for us to do dinner again Foo!) I was additionally blessed with the wonderful treat to run into Advisor Edward! He truly is a good pal and a WONDERFUL conversationalist. (Even though he refers to the male anatomy as a “Ding Dong”)

Of course what would Tuesday night at Cocktail be without Rob and his pals invading the place! Clearly Rob is someone of good politics and humor! Speaking of politics, my favorite future President of the United States, and ChicagoPride.com Blogger, Zach arrived with Rob and join in on the conversation. I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to see a nice looking young man who is smart, ambitious, and eager to Make A Difference Blog! I have great confidence in his future! Be sure to check out his blog sometime!

JR:
Heading back to Minibar|Winebar to say goodnight to our pals, Phil and I ran into one of my best friends, and Wrigleyville John Barleycorn Manager, JR Cranston. (See Picture) What a great surprise! JR is truly one of my very favorite people! He’s more than a friend. . . He’s family and I just love him! It was also a pleasure to see Geisha Geisha Star Kyle Hustedt! What a genuine person!

Clearly, I had a GREAT night!

THURSDAY:
Hopefully I will be able to get up to Hamburger Mary’s and it’s upstairs venue Mary’s Attic to see the cast of the "Paper Dolls" drag show do their thing! My dear pal Lady Vera Parker is the special guest this week. What an entertainer she is! I just love that she is taking over the city with her love!! *Grin*

Remember, my dear friend Brian Douglass will be here this weekend! You’ll see us out and about, so be sure to say hello!

SHOUT OUTS: Congratulations to my friend Trey Gonzales who was surprised LIVE on Monday’s Oprah’s Big Give show with $10,000 cash and a Challenge! Please read more about how you can help Make A Difference!

Love!
~Bill
