"A" Is For Alex!

Bosom Buddy’s:
I think I’m getting used to having my Father around in Chicago. I was blessed this last weekend to have him here. We had some fun dinners and fellowship!

Eat, Drink And Be Mary’s:
Friday evening my Father and I were joined for dinner by Advisor Edward (See Picture) and Doctor Drew at Erwin on Halsted. Although they left of the “S” in their name, they sure do have some tasty treats on their menu! It was a lovely time of the boys getting to know my father and he getting to know them!

A Night With Uncle Arthur:
Later in the evening my friend Bill Healy and his terrific roommate Russell Daugherty hosted a lovely cocktail party for my Father. Not only does Bill have a nice place, but it is too damn kind of him to open his home in his generous hospitality! Joining us was Isaiah, Johnny M., Advisor Edward, (See Picture) Doctor Drew, Ben Hartman, Mike Rippe, Philip Trampe, Sandra Riedel and her handsome husband to be, Ryan Vanderbilt. (See Picture) Also joining us was my pal Alex Choren. (See Picture Above) Many of you know of Alex from his work at Minibar|Winebar. Sadly, I think that people really miss out on what’s great about Alex. He may look amazing but that is not what’s most impressive about him. He is extremely smart and one of the most caring people I know. I am truly blessed to call him my friend and I was honored to have him join us in celebrating my Father!

The hour came for me to say goodbye to my Father. I got him to start the process of getting ready to go (That’s a lot of goodbyes) and went out on Aldine to fetch a cab. Would you believe that I was able to procure a van-cab! UNBELIEVEABLE! That would be two for two as the same thing happened last time I wished my Father bon voyage. It gets harder and harder to see him off. He is such a joy to be around. I learn something new from him each time. (Note: Did you know that there really was an Aunt Mary who encouraged the world to marry rich!)

Open And Say Ah!:
Later in the night Johnny, Ben and I stopped by Minibar|Winebar for an drink. It was a treat to run into a bunch of pals! From there Johnny and I went to Hydrate to see the new Spring upgrade they did. We were greeted my none ohther than Lady Vera Parker. Heavens, it looks great and has some wonderful new features. I swear there’s a whole lot more room on the dance floor! That Mark Liberson has done it again!

I met up early Saturday morning with Isaiah for our weekly breakfast. As you know, this is my favorite time of the week! It was especially nice as we had a lovely walk afterwards. I like being around him.

Later that afternoon I got a call from Johnny M. (See Picture) and we met up for an impromptu cup of tea at Caribou Coffee. I don’t think we ever run out of things to chat about! I really like spending time with him!

Cinco De Clyde-O:
I met up with Former Roommate Clyde at gayberhood favorite Cornelia’s. Once again, Bartender John poured the perfect cosmopolitan. We were there to catch up and celebrate Clyde’s birthday. (Taking place on the 5th of May) Of course we ran into Chicago piano man Ben Hartman.

We went from Cornelia’s to Boystown’s Scarlet where we were greeted by cutie events manager Tom Dziarma.

Day Two With Alex:
Heading over to Minibar I ran into everyone! It’s always great to see my friend DJ Phil DaBeatz and cutie interior designer, Kiel Wuellner. My pal and Barney’s haberdasher Jeffery Wondrely was on the spot and looking lean with his new cardio workout. He’s just a good guy! My friends Joe Blizzard, Steve Stewart and Bryce came over to say hello. Bryce was sporting some dandy bun-enhancer-underpants. I have to say, they made his backside perk up like a collage basketball player; giving ample room to rest my beverage on what looked to be a shelf! Heavens!

Alex (See Picture Above) was working on the Winebar side and we enjoyed more fellowship. It’s funny to see how the visiting straight girls flock to him. I’m happy to have their dollars coming into the Boystown economy, but there were two of them next to me who had no consideration of anyone around them. One of them kept on backing up into me and getting her hair in my libation. After asking her a number of times to watch out, I got bitchy and told her I’d have her thrown out if she didn’t stop. She looked at me with bewildered eyes and moved on. Even funnier was Alex’s gal-pal Kinsey who was across the bar laughing with me about the girls stupid posturing.

Joining me at the bar was Ben Hartman. We caught up and ran into sweet Mikey (Name withheld to protect his closet status). Every time I run into Mikey I grow more impressed with him. He clearly has some awesome ideas about relationships and living a safe life. This cutie also has a lot of damn energy. You know that I love that! Mikey and his friends wanted to check out the “NewHydrate so we journeyed there. I was thrilled to hangout with new friends Erin, the Grand Duchess Anastasia Beaverhausen and her operatic “Girls”, (The very cute) JP and Mike (Brother of my pal Steve )

Time does go by doesn’t it! I had the pleasure of running into longtime friend DJ Rodney Becker. He was in the Hydrate DJ booth with DJ Joe Gauthreaux and came out to greet me. Damn I’ve missed him! We enjoyed a few (GD!) libations and caught up on music and guy watching.

Sunny Sunday FUN Day:
As usual I got up early Sunday morning. Isaiah asked me to be his date to the Chicago House Spring Brunch & Fashion Show at the Harold Washington Library. My word, Jeremy Hilborn and his team put on one great show! I was able to introduce Isaiah to my friend Michael Cook, President and CEO of Howard Brown. (Remember their fundraiser, A Taste for Every Palate is on May 19th at the Museum of Contemporary Art.) We also ran into Photo Gurus, Frank Failing and Dave Ouano.

Spring Is For Veuve:
It was such a nice day out, I decided to stop by Winebar for a glass of Champaign. I was greeted by Stu Zrin with the question, “Do you have a pajama suit?”. I guess folks tend to wonder why I wear a suit all the time. I do like the feel of a good suit and tie, but there are days when I enjoy a pair of shorts and a tee. I met a damn charming guy named Doug who is somewhat new to the city. We got chit-chatting and totally lost track of the time. He’s not only cute, but really funny! I hope to hear from him again! Hosting at Winebar was vacation bound Tommy. It was also nice to get to know new Minibar|Winebar staffer Luke Livingston. He wants to go into politics. :-)

Day Three With Alex:
I could not believe that I ran into Alex (See Picture Above) yet again! This time he was walking along the streets of Halsted with gal-pal Kinsey. (By the way, she’s pretty!) Having a good laugh about the night before and the fact that we’ve been hanging around each other all weekend I gave them a hug and went off to see your pal and mine, Miss Foozie at Roscoe’s Male Call.

On the way home I stopped by Halsted’s to say hello to my friend Jeremy Ehrhart who was lookin all sporty after playing a game of ball. I was super pleased to also run into my friend Craig Johnson!

Fisticuffs For A Friend!

Heavens! I don’t know what it is about my weekends lately, but man did I have myself some fun and meet some fabulous people!

Show Some Stripes:
Thursday night I was the guest of my best friend Isaiah at the Chicago Social Magazine fashion show. What a marvelous time that was. I happily was there with my friend Sandra Riedel. She and I caught up on all the gossip. It’s such a treat to be around someone with such a love for life. Well, Isaiah and his (cute) boss, D. Graham Kostic put on one splendid show with some terrific fashion. I love a party.

Dining Out For Life:
While I was grabbing a glass of white for Sandra and me a soft pair of hands covered my eyes from behind; accompanied by the whispering of sweet nothings. When I turned around I found my dear friend Ronnie Kroell of Bravo’s Make Me A Supermodel. I don’t think I will ever get tired of running into him! It really is true when they say “absence makes the heart grow fonder”! As much as I missed him when he was on the show, I really came to see how much I cared for the guy. I invited Ronnie and his friend Chicago Smiles Spa owner, Gerilyn Alfe to join me at Home Bistro in observance of the Dining Out for Life event.

Home Bistro was one of dozens of restaurants across the nation that raised funds for AIDSCare by giving a percentage of it’s sales that evening. We had a marvelous time enjoying our white wine (Yep, its BYOB) and tasty eats. I had the Kefta Spiced Lamb Pie. It was beyond words! Ronnie asked to pick-up the tab giving me even more appreciation for him! (Sweet boy!) A special thank you to owners John & Bob!

We walked up to hear DJ Phil DaBeatz do his Thursday night residency at Minibar|Winebar. I’ve not seen owner John Dalton have this much fun in ages. Sure, he’s always got a smile on his face, but damn that guy works hard. We all laughed it up and enjoyed some libations. Ronnie was such a good boy and didn’t drink hardly anything. He had to drive home. Even though it was a school night, we stayed out late. I said good night to Ronnie; tucked him into his car, and headed home for my bitch.

Thank God It’s a day off:
Thinking ahead I scheduled the day off to enjoy some domestic chores and fellowship. I was the lucky guy to be able to have lunch with my friend Michael Cook, President and CEO of Howard Brown. It is AMAZING to me how much Howard Brown does in the community! They are really more than meets the eye. Of course you will want to check out their fundraiser, A Taste for Every Palate on May 19th at the Museum of Contemporary Art.

Homo From Home:
After I enjoyed some libations and fellowship at the AIDS Foundation of Chicago Junior Board Design for the Cure Kick-off Party at Minibar I joined Advisor Edward for dinner at gayberhood favorite Cornelia’s. Joining us was my first best friend in Chicago, Jeremy and piano man, Ben Hartman. Meeting up with us was my hometown friend Brian Westbrook and his boyfriend, Richard Dunn. I’ll tell you, Brian comes into the room; personality first! He’s always got so much energy to give and his taste in boyfriends is damn good. Richard is damn nice and painfully cute!

Enjoying a few perfectly poured cosmopolitans (See Picture) by the incomparable Bartender John we ventured off to CREW where I was blessed to assist Mistress Sofia in judging the Frat Boy contest. Heavens, the burdens of command! (Laugh Out Loud). Making our way back to Boystown we enjoyed some more fellowship along the streets of Halsted and ended the evening at Little Jim’s with Bill Healy.

Breakfast with Stripes:
What a joy it was to attend breakfast with Isaiah on Saturday morning! This is my favorite moment of the week! It was especially nice this week as we had the last two weeks canceled due to our busy schedules. After breakfast I ran into the Scott the owner of Chicago Male Salon. He’s such a nice man and I always seem to run into him.

Saturday evening was a special night for sure. Johnny M. (See Picture) join me for a glass of wine before our evening of fundraising began. Whew, I’ll tell you, this boy was made for a suit! DAMN, he looked so impressive. Former Roommate Clyde and his friend David joined us for the evening. We schlepped up to Evanston for the Better Existence with HIV (BEHIV) fifth Annual Club BEHIV & Cabaret, a fundraising event to benefit BEHIV’s lifesaving programs for people infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. What a charming event! There was great food and drink and the Woman’s Club of Evanston was a great venue. I ran into the Former Mayor of Boystown the very svelte, Paul Palmateer and Paul Kepner. I even ran into’s own Michael J. Roberts and Frank Failing.

We headed back to Boystown were we ran into DJ Phil DaBeatz at Minibar|Winebar. We also ran into Jim Bonfield. Clyde and David went off to Sidetrack and John and I enjoyed some fellowship with my pal and Minibar bartender, Alex Choren. I also ran into old friend, Scotty P. (See Picture) and Los Angeles legal eagle, Wade Ackerman and his hot boyfriend. Johnny headed home just as Ben Hartman came in. We enjoyed an drink and then headed over to see if we could find Advisor Edward at his watering hole.

Fisticuffs Over Hottie Edward:
Catching Edward before he could stumble home, we joined him for a “Nightcap”. Enjoying our usual banter of praise, we were interrupted by a would-be stalker who had his eye on Edward. At first it was annoying, then it became belligerent. When I saw that this dope was really bothering Edward, I went into protection mode. (Note: This tends to happen if I feel my friends are being threatened.) I spoke up to the guy and asked him to stop. When he didn’t I got up and told him that I would remove him from the bar. (Cue Rocky 4 music soundtrack) When that didn’t work I got security to do just that. Don’t mess with my peeps!

Sunday FUN Day:
I stopped by to see your pal and mine, Miss Foozie at Roscoe’s Male Call. What a fun time! I was super glad to meet up with my friend Andy Miller from Portland Oregon. It has been years since I’ve seen him. We enjoyed catching up and listening to a little 80’s music courtesy of VJ Bobby. Joining me was Boystown cutie Mike Kunen

Send In The Clowns:
Be sure to check out the latest Make A Difference article posted today! It features some thoughts on how to strengthen your mental health as you would your physical health.

This Week:
My wonderful Father (See Picture) returns to Chicago for more mayhem! You will see us at Angelina’s, Cornelia’s, and Irwin’s. Please come up and introduce yourself if you see us! He’s worth the hello!

SHOUT OUTS: My Singapore Envoy, David Cruse Beal , Hometown friend, Brent Corrigan, Jake Conrad My friend, Brian Douglass, Troy Christopher Kane, JR Cranston, The damn FINE Clay Hinkle, and my bitch Buffy. She seems to get older every moment.

Have a great week!

Trust Me. . . It's Long!

I’m going to warn you. . . this will be a long blog, but well worth the read!

Poppa Can You Hear Me:
What a thrill it always is; to have my Father (See Picture Above) visit! There’s never a dull moment. With a late arrival because of Chicago’s windy weather on Wednesday, he arrived just in time for us to dine at Joe’s Stone Crab on Grand & Rush. Joining us was my best friend Isaiah. My two favorite fellows in one place; it was the best. The only thing missing was my Mom. She would have enjoyed every minute but the travel itself. With Scott as our server we were in high heaven with stone crab and sweets! He made us feel like we were royalty. Placing my father in a cab to head back to the Westin River North Isaiah and I made the trek back to Boystown. As busy as he and I are these days, I really appreciate the times we have with one another. He is a gem!

Having a delightful time of cocktails with my Father in the lobby bar of the Westin Thursday evening, (Note: Clearly the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!) and enjoying a call from my brother David in China I headed up North to see my friends Amy & Freddy perform at the Lakeshore Theater. I had about forty-five minutes to kill before the show started so I headed over to nearby Wilde to see my gal pal and Wilde Bartender Ryan Yoder. (See Picture) It had been (Pronounced: bean) way too long since I’ve seen Ryan!

Ryan was all dressed to impress the gays in his painted on jeans and perfect smile. Look, I’ve known the boy for a while and I love him only as a friend, but DAMN! He be lookin gooooood. (Sidenote: You should see his brother; (See Picture) New York “front model”, Billy! He too is fine and part of the “family” if you know what I mean!). It turns out that Ryan was all dressed pretty because of a private party being held at Wilde for the LGBT academic Martini Group. (Thats my name for it.) A group of boys (And some girls) from various universities that gather to fellowship over great conversation and libation. I think that Ryan was hoping for more of an Abercrombie Martini Group. (Laugh Out Loud). Having a few Maker’s Mark and Ginger Ales, I headed off to the theater.

Sing That Tune Funny Girl:
Joining me for the show at the Lakeshore Theater was Advisor Edward. We were so kindly ushered to the front row in great style by the management of Lakeshore Theater and given libations to wet our whistles. The crowd was wonderful and ready for a fun evening of song and snickers. I’ve known my friend Amy Armstrong for a lot of years now. She is always so full of energy and zeal. I honestly have never seen her look better! Not only is she sporting a great look, but her talent is even more alive. (If that were possible) I’ve always said, as talented as she is in music; she is just as equally talented in being funny. She kills me every time! That Freddy Allen did it again in putting together a perfect show! I just adore that guy! (Don’t worry Lance!)

Running into my dear friends Bill Healy and Russell Daugherty at the show, Advisor Edward and I join them after the show and headed over to enjoy an slice of pizza from my favorite pizza joint Pie Hole Pizza. Owner/Friend DJ Doug Brandt was on hand to provide fellowship and his usual comedic blessing. I’ll tell you, he’s one good egg! Afterwards the boys headed to Sidetrack and Advisor Edward and I headed North on Halsted. He to Little Jim’s and I to the home and my fury dog. On our way, we ran into boystown social-boy, Ryan Andrew sans boyfriend Zach. It had been a while since I’ve seen Mister A. Denying the powers of Edwards pleas to join him for a “Nightcap” (Pronounced: in a stiff English accent) at Little Jim’s I made it home to my bitch.

Thank God:
Having my Father in town is great! I love ending my work day with him the lobby bar. We always seem to have so much to talk about! I think he’s gotten it through his head that I’m going to stay in Chicago. (Note: That is of course I don’t get a call from Bill Gates himself to offer me a job; something my Father could probably arrange) Ushering him to a taxi to wisk him off to his dinner with friends, I headed back North to have a relaxed evening. Rarely do I get a quite Friday night. Of course I did stop by my favorite watering hole, Minibar|Winebar for a glass of wine.

I was greeted as I walked in by Thursday/Saturday resident DJ Phil DaBeatz and his clan of pals; the very cute Adam Hickenbottom and the ginger haired Jessica. Jessica was a bit pissed to be sure because I didn’t remember her name. Honestly my friends, I am NOT good at that. I don’t know what it is, but I just don’t remember things that well. Even my little blog here is conceived via a small pile of reminder notes that I write every night before retiring to bed. Nonetheless, it was great to fellowship with Phil, Adam, and Jessica and I hope that I will be able to remember her name in the future!

On the Winebar side I was greeted by none other than interior designer, Kiel Wuellner. Surly I am the lucky guy on a number of occasions to be spoken to by beautiful guys, but this one is truly impressive! I think Kiel is the first person to greet me by saying, “How’s Buffy?”. (My bitch) Well, we got talking about a billion things and I lost track of the time. Saying good evening to Kiel and his “new hot friend” Matthew he met earlier in the day, I headed home to said bitch.

Party Day:
Sadly Isaiah and I weren’t able to do our Saturday morning breakfast again this week as he was cleaning up after a photo shoot from the day before with Modern Luxury Magazine and wedding shopping with friends Sandra Riedel, her charming Mother Kristy, and sweet aunt Heidi. Recall that Sandra is getting married to the very handsome Ryan Vanderbilt and Isaiah is organizing the wedding.

The Eighth & Ninth Wonders of the World:
I’ve not been (Pronounced: bean) to the Great Pyramid of Giza or seen the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus; the Mausoleum of Maussollos at Halicarnassus or the other four wonders of the world, but I think that I’ve seen/experienced the latest two to be added to the list. I went grocery shopping with Advisor Edward (Eighth Wonder) at the gayberhood Treasure Island for Saturday evening’s dinner party in honor of my Father. I think one could write a book on this experience alone. From his making fun of “trixie’s” (Girls who are annoying and talk in a high pitched squeal) to the squeezing of the expensive produce, it was pure comedy!

As if that weren’t enough, I then got in a car with this man (Ninth Wonder) to head back to his flat on Roscoe and Lakeshore. Making preparations for the festivities later that evening the dining room table was over the top!

Drunk & Drunker:
With prompt precision the party in honor of my sainted Father began with his arrival to Advisor Edward’s home at 7:00PM. Right from the get-go, this sharp dressed man was regaling Edward, Chicago Piano Man, Ben Hartman and me with stories and wisdom. With drinks and “Bits” to eat in the study we were greeted by arriving guests one by one. Joining the fun was Isaiah and his mentor and DePaul Professor, Jim Halsted. I so enjoy this man! He is like a child in the library of life; always inquisitive and hungry for peoples thoughts. Next we welcomed my friends Bill Healy and Russell Daugherty; both dressed in tie’s nonetheless!

Needless to say, the sumptuous dinner of “dead cow” (as Advisor Edward put it.) and vegetables was interwoven by incredible stories, tasty libations, and toasts! We went from wine, to port, to cognac in the span of a few hours and were even blessed to hear Ben play us a tune or two on the baby grand piano. Saying goodbye to my father, I put him in a well timed van-cab at 1AM. (Note: He had to be up the next morning at 5:00 AM to leave for the airport!) I hate goodbyes! With thanks in my heart, I took my leave of Advisor Edward and the gang and headed home myself.

Sunday, A Day of Rest:
I enjoyed a rather relaxing day of movies and fellowship with the bitch on Sunday. In the early evening I was so happy to meet up John M. at his place downtown. Johnny has been gone to his family home in Michigan for the last week. It is true when they say that “Absence makes the heart grow fonder”! I really missed him! We had a delightful time of catching up, enjoying a meal and talking philosophy. He even introduced me to the show Desperate Housewives. (I’d never seen it.) Saying good night to my missed friend, I headed back up to Boystown.

Better Than Clark Kent:
Stopping by to greet folks at Minibar’s Sunday FUN Day Beach Party I was surprised to find a unique reaction by everyone there. As promised, I was in shorts and a polo shirt; not my usual suit and tie regalia. The only one to recognize me was cute door guy, Kyle. I had to introduce myself to friends who reacted with such surprise and amazement at my lack of clothes. It was comedy. Greeting DJ Chris Eterno, and party boys Ross Vigil, Steve Stewart and Johnny Reilly I headed home to enjoy another movie with my bitch.

This Week:
I hope you will all make it a point to participate in Dining Out For Life (See Picture) this Thursday evening. Sponsored by, Dining Out For Life raises funds for AIDSCare by dining at many of your favorite local restaurants. I myself will be dining at Home Bistro. For a list of participating restaurants, click here. For those of you outside Chicagoland check out for a list of restaurants in your neighborhood!

Also, Join us this Friday at 7PM for an evening of fabulous fashion as the AIDS Foundation of Chicago Junior Board,, and Minibar|Winebar present the Make A Statement: Design for the Cure Kick-off Party at Minibar! (See Picture) You can purchase a ticket for the May 8th event or donate $15 to the AIDS Foundation of Chicago and you will enjoy a Svedka-hosted vodka bar from 7-8:00PM and $3 cocktail specials for the rest of the evening.

SHOUT OUTS: Chicago Male Salon owner, Scott who I just saw in Halsted Caribou Coffee as I was writing this blog. My Singapore Envoy, David Cruse Beal , Chicago Piano Man Ben Hartman, Young pal, Jake Conrad My friend, Brian Douglass, Troy Christopher, Kyle Hustedt, My first best pal in Chicago, Jeremy Ehrhart, The seriously cute Clay Hinkle, my bitch Buffy and finally, my Mom who was missed this last week!

Have a great week!

Better Late Then Never!

Please forgive the delay in getting this blog out! Although I had THE best time last weekend there have been some busy days since then. I’m proud to announce that’s parent company,, has launched our new sister site, With the upcoming Cherry Weekend taking place in Washington DC, is taking its first steps as a proud sponsor. I hope you will take a look at the new site and tell all your friends in Washington DC about it!

The Days of Yore:
After 15 (Or so) years of not seeing one another my long lost college pal Andy Hatton came to Boystown for a visit on Friday evening. It was SO nice to catch up with Andy over dinner at Angelina’s with Johnny M. joining us! John was on his way out of town to fellowship with his family in Michigan, so I wanted to be sure and have some fellowship with him before he left! “I hate goodbyes!” (See: Dumb & Dumber)

From Angelina’s we stepped over to Cornelia’s for a glass (Or three) of wine with Advisor Edward. It never fails, we always strike up the greatest conversations when we’re together! Saying goodbye to John, we all headed towards Sidetrack. My word it was like a big reunion there! I ran into the always sweet Mikey (Name withheld to protect his closet status) and his very cute friend Rob. Piano man Ben Hartman joined us as well. I also had the pleasure of running into my dear friend Scott Parachek! (Clydee you were missed) It was a double pleasure to run into kindred spirit, Matt Richards. (See Picture) Ya know, he is such a pleasure to be around. He always has a smile and a witty thing to say! (More to come about Matt.) Enjoying a lovely evening at the Tracks, Advisor Edward headed off to Little Jim’s; Andy headed back to his hotel and I made the trek home to my Bitch.

Don’t Leave Before You Go!:
Saturday evening began with a light snowfall on my way over to my friend Bill Healy’s home. Bill hosted a number of us including the talented Freddy Allen to dinner in honor of his friends Ed and Chuck from Palm Springs (Smoke Tree) whom he met on his last tropical cruise. I can’t tell you what a delight it was to get to know these chaps! They were full of life and great stories! Ed and I especially bonded as he is from my hometown of Seattle and we know all the same people! Sadly my night had other plans so I said farewell at 10 to my new friends and walked briskly in the cold flurries to Halsted.

On my way home to pick up the present I got for Miss Foozie’s birthday party, I stopped by to say hello to my pal DJ Phil DaBeatz at Minibar|Winebar. With a hug and a kiss I was back on the trail towards home.

Happy Birthday To Foo…:
Everyone knows that I am a big fan of my pal Miss Foozie! Foo and I have known each other for years. John, the man behind Foozie is like family to me; as we have worked together on occasion over the years. Miss Foozie is one loved person in the community and I have the great honor of calling her my friend. The gang at Circuit spared no expense in throwing Foozie one hell of a birthday party! With an all-star cast that included my friends, Paula Sinclair, Cyon Flare, Lady Vera Parker, Tina Torch, Sebastian Cock and more; Foozie was on cloud nine in love! She even did a few “quickie’s” for the 300+ people in attendance! My two favorites were Foozie and a banana. (It was kind of hot) and her finale where in she took off her wig and announced to everyone that she was “Just a man!”. It was one of the best show’s I’ve ever seen Foo do and there was a ton of free Pie Hole Pizza everywhere courtesy of community friend, Doug Brandt!

At Circuit I ran into my gal-pal Jake Conrad and the very cute Kale Ness. What a blessing that was! Jake can’t help but be cute when he dances! (Side Note: Where in the hell were these cute guys when I was young? I would have come out a billion years earlier!) Speaking of cute; your friend and mine, Trey Gonzales of Oprah’s Big Give! fame, was there as well with his friend Richard. Ya know, every time I hangout with Trey I am more impressed! (What was it you said about “Going for the eyes!” Trey?) Plus, he seriously is pretty damn cute!’s Matthew, Brian, Jay, and cute CP Brand Manager, Mike were also there to ring in Foozie’s birthday. It was a real party!!

Don’t Leave Before You Go!:
I got a text from Ronnie telling me he was at Minibar so I headed down to see him. I swear, it is so great to have him home! We were catching up on all the festivities of the night and enjoying a few libations. I was able to introduce him to Trey and watch them get to know each other. (Note: I love when great minds come together to do great things!)

Like Circuit; there were a lot of friends at Minibar. Boystown Icon, Linda Little was holding court behind the bar. Community activist, Kevin Hauswirth greeted me with his usual handshake and hello. Minibar cutie, Kyle was hosting the door and DJ Phil DaBeatz continued playing the incredible music he does. I was delighted to have another Mikey (Name withheld to protect his closet status) sighting! He and I got talking about safe sex in the community and how many seem to not be following that practice. The guy is damn right!

Sister Trisha Was Here!:
Saying good night to everyone, I headed North to Hydrate to see my friend DJ Scotty Thomson spin. I’ve known Scotty for years as Sister Trisha Jones introduced us back in Seattle. (Note: I loved that you called me at three in the morning Sister!) Every time I hang with Scotty, I have THE best time. It’s hard to explain but when I like a DJ’s work, I like more than just the music I hear! I like to watch their process of song choice, how they use the music board, and the movement in their step. Like my friend DJ Rodney Becker, Scotty has an incredible focus and feel of the room. I was in heaven! I stood in the booth from 1:30 until 5:00 a.m.! (Note: I don’t make it a practice to stay out that late. *Grin*) Saying good morning to Scotty, I headed home to my sleepy bitch.

Saving The Best For Last:
As if I didn’t stay up all night, I was up at the dawn of crack (Note: That’s earlier than the crack of dawn) and headed to the gym. My workouts are such a joy as I’m feeling great results! At two I was the lucky guy to be able to fellowship with Matt Richards (See Picture) at Caribou Coffee. Honestly, Matt is so damn refreshing! Just when I think that I’m a bit on the crazy side; he reminds me that the mission I have in my life is important. (Note: Matt you have one FINE a_s!)

Around 7 I met up with Isaiah for dinner at Pie Hole Pizza. He’s been busy with various events and work with Chicago Social Magazine. Our normal Saturday morning breakfast had to be canceled as he was wedding shopping with his roommate Sandra Riedel and her wonderful Mother Kristy. Sandra is getting married to the very handsome Ryan Vanderbilt in August and Isaiah is organizing the wedding.

We had a great dinner and caught up on all our gossip. When it comes to having a best friend, he’s the best! All-in-all, it was a marvelous weekend and was the perfect way to start the week.

This Week:
If you’re looking for the ideal pre-weekend date idea, be sure to join me this Thursday evening for a great night of laughs and tunes with my pals Amy & Freddy! (See Picture Above) If you don't have a date, you can be mine!

This evening my sainted Father (See Picture) is coming to town for a visit. In addition to the usual mayhem that we will enjoy; Advisor Edward is throwing a private dinner in honor of my father this weekend. The small gathering will for sure be written about in my next blog. If you see us out and about over the weekend please come up and introduce yourself!!

A Model Day

The Perfect Sun Day:
With the weather outside being just perfect, (63 degrees) I was on cloud nine all Saturday! (Origin of phrase: It was believed that clouds existed on a successful level of layers, and the ultimate high layer was 9. So, anyone who is suddenly super happy was said to be soaring in the clouds and naturally the level of the cloud they were assumed to be on was the highest...level 9)

I’m sure the early start to my day, the breakfast with Isaiah and the many cups of coffee I had helped! Whilst at the counter of Caribou Coffee I felt a sizable cup of my bum and turned around to find my long lost pal Ronnie standing behind me. It was one of those Capra-esq moments (See: Frank Capra, Director: It's a Wonderful Life and Mr Smith Goes to Washington) when all time stood still. It was nice to catch up! We made plans to meet up later that evening for some fellowship with the boys of Boystown.

I also had the pleasure of running into Jason Steele of Red Eye fame. He’s such a nice guy. Clearly we both get our inspiration from being around people at the Gayberhood coffee shop. Watch out Perez!

Party Of The Year:
The generosity of John Dalton and Stu Zrin at Minibar|Winebar never ceases to impress me! Once again they spared no expense in providing table service for Ronnie and me. (See Picture Above) We were able to enjoy some fellowship and greet friends with comfort! I was a bit nervous for it all to go well. I knew that everyone wanted to see Ronnie, and he wanted to see them too. I just didn’t want him to have to work so hard. Damn can I be a dumba_s sometimes. Ronnie’s a lot like me; we just can’t leave a room alone! :-) As always, Minibar’s Dexter took such great care of us all night! He kept the Goose and fruit flowing and I kept Ronnie’s glass full. (Note: Special thank you to my Father who always encouraged me to “Get so-and-so another drink”)

Who’s Who:
Everyone was so happy to be reunited with our Boystown celebrity! It was fun to see Bill Healy there with his pal Russell. My family’s Barney’s advisor, Jeffery stopped by to say hello. What an impressive person! It was also a treat to see Obama LGBT Front man, Jamie Cirron. As busy as he is, any time with him is good time! photographer Jay was there to snap pics of all the snazzy dressed folks. My friend Matt Richards surprised the heck out of me by being out and about! He is one very likeable fellow! He’s also a kindred spirit! We’ve made plans to meet up later this week.

New Chicago socialite Brad Hammer was on hand with a very fetching hat! He’s spared no time in getting plugged in to the Chicago scene! The future Mayor of Boystown, Tommy Holl came by as well. Is it just me or does this boy know everyone!?!?! I swear, I will be out of an honorary job before long!

Joining Ronnie and me at the table was Ronnie’s pal (and now mine) Todd Hatoff! He’s a damn good egg and is a true friend for Ronnie. Also joining the table was my pal John M. and his cute friend Brian. Of course more folks sat with us throughout the evening; in between dance breaks and makeout sessions. (Comedy!)

I’m always happy to see my patient & pal John Reilly! He’s always got a smile on that cute photogenic face! Naturally, Ryan Andrew, Jim Bonfield and Chicago Male Salon hottie Kevin Anthony said hello!

Minibar staffer, Kyle (See Picture) was also on hand with boyfriend Danny. What a damn cute couple! Kyle is a very sweet guy and I have to say one of the cutest that I know! The music of the night was damn intense! DJ Phil DaBeatz was in excellent form to be sure! Jersey Boys music man Ben Hartman came by to catch up. Ben is one great guy and I always love seeing him!

Good Night Sweetheart:
Around 1:30, Ronnie looked a bit woofed so I offered to walk him to Todd’s place, where he was staying. I now know what it’s like when Isaiah gets me out of an event. Ronnie didn’t want to ignore the hellos but really wanted to get home. It’s hard to say no sometimes.

Our walk to Todd’s was just delightful! It was the first quiet time we had all night. Ha Ha! Clearly he’s happy to be home. At one point in the evening he said to me, “I love New York but I’m IN LOVE with Chicago”. What a nice boy!

I stopped back at Minibar to say thank you and then brought some of my pals to Hydrate where Tommy Holl had a drink with me! (Scratch that one off the list) As I climbed the steps to my flat I was greeted at the door by my hairy dog. THAT is always a pleasant surprise as she’s really damn old and looking ready to go to heaven these days. :-( All in all, a “Model” day!
