Praise the DJ

Hey Mister DJ:
Congratulations to Chicago’s own DJ Brett Locascio; one of four DJ’s being considered in the Gay Days DJ contest. There were over 200 DJ's looking for the coveted spinning spot at this years’ Gay Days in Orlando. The winner is chosen by audience votes - texts, tweets, and online voting

There are a number of ways to vote for Brett: 1. Send a text to the number 99503 with the word DJBRETT (it's free!). 2. Use the voting console on http://gayinternetradiolive.com. 3. Tweet DJBRETT to @Girlradio

In all fairness, I do want to also give a plug for my pal DJ Jerry Griffith. Many Hydrate goers know Jerry’s work! To vote for Jerry: 1. Send a text to the number 99503 with the word DJJERRY. 2. Use the voting console on http://gayinternetradiolive.com. 3. Tweet DJJERRY to @Girlradio

As much as I love great music and the magic that many of my DJ friends do in their work, I have no problem supporting these two great guys!

Cheers!

Ronnie Kroell in the nude

Cover Model:
Okay girls (And probably a lot of boys) I have been inundated with calls, texts, and emails; asking me if there is any truth to the rumor that my friend Ronnie Kroell will be featured in Playgirl magazine.

ChicagoPride.com reported in January that Ronnie was in talks with Playgirl. Well, I got a call from Ronnie very early this morning confirming this is true.

Ronnie is one of my dearest friends; I think this can be another opportunity for Ronnie to show the world that gay people are just like everyone else.

At least now I can say publicly that I've seen him naked! (Laughs out loud)

Cheers!

Take It Off:
Leave it up to Test Positive Aware Network to host a fabulous event called Chicago Takes Off "TV Land: Outside the BOX!". The shows are a Broadway-style musical revue that elevates the “strip-tease” to an art form.

TPAN’s Rhett Lindsay let me know that due to their generous sponsors and supporters, TPAN is able to offer a special ticket price for the 2nd Floor Balcony. ONLY $25! Go to www.chicagotakesoff.org. Click on "Order Tickets". Choose your preference of time (either 7:30 PM or 10:00 PM), this will take you to the TPAN online processor; click on "Register". Enter code word "balcony”, and then click on apply code, and the $25 option will appear. The rest should be self-explanatory.

The 2nd floor balcony features its own cash bar; distant views of the stage and runway; open, limited seating; and a great time supporting Test Positive Aware Network. TPAN still has $50, $100, and $150 seats available for the 7:30 performance if your’re interested. Please purchase by Friday afternoon. Of course if you have any questions, contact Rhett Lindsay at (773) 989-9400 ext. 233

Last year’s show was AMAZING. New York’s Coco Peru (Many will recall Ms. Peru’s performance in the movie Trick) hosted. You can see a bit of it in this video:

Learn A Little:
I hope you will all join me next week at the Unite+Fight Midwest Conference (March 12-14) Featuring: Lt. Dan Choi, prominent activist against Don’t Ask Don’t Tell; Staceyann Chin, Jamaican-born lesbian performance artist & poet; and Adam Bouska, photographer and creator of the NOH8? Campaign. Registration is just $15 and can be done here.

Cheers!

Have A Heart

My Mom:
Okay, I know this is going to seem corny to most of you, but it really must be said! The quasi holiday known as my cute friend Jonathan says “Singles Awareness Day” is here. For the single man this can be quite the depressing day. Not for me! I’m surrounded by dear friends and loved ones. One such person is my Mom. Always the best in care, support, and steadfast love; my Mom is really all the valentine I want.

It’s a pretty funny holiday if you ask me. Some folks get pretty bent out of shape if they don’t have a special someone to get a flower from or go to dinner with. There are even those who can’t pronounce the word valentine correctly; saying valen”times”. Bwah ha ha! I guess for me it’s a day where I think about all the people I love and how they’ve impacted my life. (I told you this would seem corny)

So, here I sit, enjoying some coffee and disco (Courtesy of Pandora) and thinking of my sweet Mom; truly a perfect valentines day!

xoxo

So long Bitch!

Steak in the sky:
It’s with a sad heart that I share the passing of my faithful old bitch Buffy. (See Photo Above) Buff was a dear sweet pooch and had a long wonderful life!

She was THE best to come home to and did an amazing job keeping the floors clean. Among her many talents was the ability to smell salami from any room in the flat.

Her best claim to fame was getting along with Oprah Winfrey’s dogs in Lakeshore Park. When Buff and I moved to Chicago in 2001 I lived next door to the park and would walk her there in the early mornings. Wouldn’t you know it, Ms. Winfrey happened to be there on a number of occasions. Our dogs played together.

In the last few years Buff became well known to my readers and friends as the sweet bitch I ended my days with. Truly she was more than that. She went through good times and bad with me. She experienced heartbreak over break-ups and joy over dropped food. She would pooh at the site of a vacuum and lift her thigh like a lady to pee.

Wonderfully I was able to be with her when she passed. I am really going to miss my faithful old dog Buffy!

Rest in peace dog!
